The Pavilion of Knowledge – Ciência Viva, designed by the Portuguese architect Carrilho da Graça is an interactive science and technology museum. Its main objective is to stimulate scientific knowledge and promote scientific and technological culture among all citizens.

Orient Station

Portugal Pavilion

Discover the Pavilion of Portugal and of the Park.
This Pavilion is a project of architects Alvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto de Moura, both distinguished Portuguese architects. The building´s characteristic feature resides in its entrance hall, an ample square covered by a hard cement roof. This roof is inspired in the shape of a sheet of paper between two bricks, as an opening of the pavilion to the city, lodging large-scale events.

Inaugurated in the 4th of April of 1998, Vasco da Gama bridge is named after Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama, in the year when the 500 years of his arrival to India was commemorated. It is the longest bridge in Europe and the fourth in the world.

Fauna

Fauna
Discover the fauna of the Park.
The Vasco da Gama bridge crosses 400 hectares over the salt mines of Samouco. Partially abandoned for many years, they are an important area of nest building for some species of protected birds such as the Perna-Longa (Himantopus himantopus), Andorinha-do - Mar-Anã (Sterna aíbifrons) and Borrelho-the-Coleira-lnterrompida (Charadrius alexandrinus).
